It worked so well that they did it again on Pilot Talk II just months later.It was another skit-free 40 minutes of tight rapping about cars that are out of production, obscure daytime television. With the date coming so close to the other release, I figured it would inevitably be pushed back and delayed many times.
It opened in the Top 40 of the national album charts. It was kind of weird because I was still digesting the first Pilot Talk when Pilot Talk 2 got its release date. A subsequent deal with DD172, a new multimedia company headed by legendary Roc-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash, led to his third album, 2010's widely praised Pilot Talk. That didn't last, so Curren$y went to Cash Money Records, where he released his first single, "Where Da Cash At?" When that didn't work out, Curren$y went independent and issued two digital albums in 2009, This Ain't No Mixtape and Jet Files. With TRU Records' collapse, Curren$y was picked up by C-Murder's brother Master P and No Limit Records. The latter brought him his first recorded appearance on 2005's The Truest Sh*t I Ever Wrote, C-Murder's final album before he went to prison for murder. Curreny is gassing up the jet for the Pilot Talk Trilogy Tour. Prior to the albums release, there was news of Pilot Talk being released under a newly relaunched Roc-A-Fella Records. Currensy is taking his talents on the road for the Pilot Talk Tour this Fall. and Mos Def, amongst others, with most of the songs produced by Ski Beatz. The album featured guest appearances by Snoop Dogg, Big K.R.I.T. He's not a bounce rapper, and he's more likely to rhyme about a love of "kush" than a talent for moving "weight." Curren$y spent a few years shuffling around local imprints, first signing with imprint Tuff Guy Entertainment as a teenager, and then moving to C-Murder's TRU Records. Currensys third album, Pilot Talk, was released on July 13, 2010. Shante "Curren$y" Franklin isn't your typical New Orleans emcee.
